"Facebook In a Crowd" (Blog #5)

The article I personally thought was most interesting was the "Facebook in a Crowd." The was a lot of truth in the article when the author described having 700 friends on facebook and how many of the were true. How could anyone possibly have 700 friends? Even a very likable person could only have at the most a 100-200 good friends they have a genuine friendship with and have actually met even once. Most users on facebook secretly know there large number of friends on facebook is nothing. You are to your "friends" on facebook the same thing they are to you; just another person to add to the number that makes their false popularity. The author was probably the only person to put his "friends" to the test. The outcome was not really a surprise to me and I honestly don't think it was a surprise to the author either. If he really thought it would be a successful turn out then why did he test his friends in the first place? Out of the hundreds of people he had invited on facebook only women had showed up. I honstly felt bad for him if this was a actual event because even the few he truly thought were genuine didn't come. It just goes to show how fake people have become in this modern fake world we have today..
